6/2016 I had yet to do a hike off hwy 542 that was not socked in and today was no exception. Batting 0 for 6 now. I apologized to my hiking buddies!
We left the TH at around 9:45am and because the trail is in such good condition (baring some mud) we made to the peak by noon. There is still snow at the pass but the peak was clear. There were glimpses of the surrounding peaks and Shucksan but we had to be content with the exercise that got us there and the good company.
We slushed back down and we’re back to the cars by 2:45pm. There was only one tree over the trail. We did have fun noticing a shaft on the side of the trail just before the TH. We spent some time guessing what it was!
Directions: Drive east on HWY 542 (Mount Baker Highway) to MP 41.2, about 8 miles past the Glacier Public Service Center (just outside the town of Glacier). There is parking on both sides of the road but the TH is on the left.
